And you can too, here's how to in under a month

Read Time: 6 min

Hi networkers,

If you’re looking to make your LinkedIn profile stand out, you’ll want to read this.

On my page, I have a noticeable badge.

And because I have this badge, I’ve been getting more engagement. We’re talking coffee chat requests, followers, you name it.

But enough of that, why am I telling you this?

I’m telling you this because you can easily get your own badge to stand out.

Badges are given through a program called Top Voice and today, I’ll show the steps to get one in less than 30 days.

Here’s the route for today

Get Your LinkedIn Top Voice

The Context

Having a Top Voice badge on LinkedIn is like having a blue check on Twitter. It’s a way to expand your influential reach.

The only difference? Top Voice badges are free and can only be obtained by making quality posts.

You have the option of contributing to topic-specific forums. From A - Z, there’s a topic on just about anything. (View the page here)

And since there are multiple topics, it’s possible to get multiple badges, although you can only display one at a time.

To qualify for a topic-specific badge, you have to contribute to the AI-generated prompts within that topic.

Let’s do an example with steps.

Follow These Steps

Alright, so let’s say you want to get a top voice badge for Networking.

Step 1:

  • Check if you’re able to make posts because Top Voice is an invite-only program.

  • Head over to an article within networking like this page.

  • You’re eligible if you see the “Start a contribution” button. If you don’t have the button, go to Step 2.

Step 2:

  • If you’re able to contribute, skip this and head to Step 3.

  • To get invited to top voices, you have to be more active. Post more often, comment on other’s posts, and reshare!

  • I recommend posting something once a week.

Step 3:

  • Start writing! The more you write, the faster you’ll get the badge.

  • Each article has 6 sub-topics, you can contribute to a max of 5 sub-topics per article.

  • Writing at least 3 sub-topics per day will increase your badge chances!

As you write, the yellow progress bar will fill up. This bar shows how you compare to other contributors on the same topic.

Lastly, once you’ve reached the top 5% or higher of contributors, you receive the badge!

Why You Should Care

Sounds cool Michael. But why would I want this? Is a badge really necessary?

Glad you asked! Let’s put it this way. How many jobs out there ask for your LinkedIn profile in their applications?

Quite a bit right? So let’s say you have a marketing badge and you’re applying for a marketing role.

Guess what the recruiter’s going to see when they click on your profile - a shiny badge that says Top Marketing Voice.

Badges are a great way to stand out among candidates, show off relevant experience, and catch the eyes of decision-makers.

Trust me, very few profiles have this, be one of the few who do.

My advice to you:

Follow the steps above and you should have a badge for your wanted topic in less than 30 days! (Assuming you write every day)

You don’t have to write every day, I even skipped some days, but as long as you’re consistent, you’ll get the badge.

See you next Tuesday 🤝

Why I like this quote:

Between my full-time job, this newsletter, and a social life, you'd think I have a lot to stress about. But I actually rarely feel stress.

That’s because I understand the quote.
