🔵 Does your resume check off these 3 boxes?

Use the M&A format

When I first asked a friend for resume help, he said:

What is it? The M&A format is an investment banking style resume.

But make no mistake, because you don’t need to be in finance to use it. On the contrary, it’s the most universally accepted resume format.

The benefit here is that it’ll pass any ATS system out there.

When it comes to formatting, be clear, not clever.

Take ownership of bullet points

Don’t be afraid to take ownership of your resume bullet points!

Recruiters are looking for driven results.

To get that message across, don’t start your bullet points with words like:

• collaborated

• helped

• or assisted

These words aren’t powerful. They don’t give off the impression that you owned your accomplishments.

Instead, use action-oriented words like:

• designed

• created

• spearheaded

• managed

• or led

Quantify where possible

When in doubt add numbers. It’s the best way to communicate results.

And results in your resume, well…they get you results in your job search.
