TOPIC
Organize Your Life Using PARA

For the past month, I’ve been using a new productivity system that has transformed the way I capture information online.

Does anyone here use Apple Notes, Notepad, or Sticky Notes to write down random things online?

I used to, and it was quite messy…

I had so many notes I could never find any specific one I needed. It was the digital equivalent of losing your house keys.

One day though, I came across a video explaining PARA.

  • messy folders on your desktop?

  • random sticky notes you forgot you even wrote?

  • trouble finding media files or digital documents?

PARA solves all this by separating whatever you track online into 4 buckets:

Projects: anything with actionable goals, milestones, and defined deadlines

Area: parts of your life that require consistent maintenance, they don’t have defined deadlines

Resources: ongoing topics of interest or notes for potential projects

Archive: Inactive or completed items from projects, areas, resources

A visual representation of PARA

It took some time to build, but I managed to implement this framework into my Notion.

Now instead of the random sticky notes, my notes look like this:

But you don’t have to use Notion. Making a PARA system can be as simple as creating folders in your documents like this:

The format is up to you! As long as it follows the same 4 bucket structure.

My advice to you:

In whatever way you’d like, create your own PARA system by making 4 buckets and labeling them Project, Area, Resource, and Archive.

For whatever notes, bookmarks, or anything else you capture online, sort them into one of those 4 buckets.

And if you’d like to grab a copy of my PARA Notion template, head to referrals below.

Until next time, happy e-cleaning! 🧹
